A complete set of pre-surgery
instructions will be provided at least 2-3 weeks
before your surgery.
Certain medications thin your
blood and should not be taken within 2 weeks of
surgery. The most notable is aspirin and aspirin-containing
products. Vitamin E and many herbal products also
thin the blood and should not be used within 2
weeks of surgery. Birth control pills should be
stopped after your last menstrual cycle and your
surgery should be scheduled between cycles.
You will get thorough information
in advance of your travel to Bangkok and a detailed
review of your meds at the time of your consultation.
It is important to not smoke within
3 weeks before and after surgery. Smoking has
a profound effect on reducing wound healing capabilities.
It diminishes the flow of oxygen through your
blood. It significantly increases the likelihood
for infection, wound healing problems, and scar
formation. It also affects your airway and makes
anesthesia much more difficult.
